Oil on board, hedgerow study by Fairlie Harmar ( 1876-1945), in a contemporary frame.

Fairlie Harmar was born in Dorset and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art. She became Viscountess Harberton on her marriage to the 7th Viscount Harberton, Ernest, Arthur, George Pomeroy. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and many other institutions and her works are in many public collections, the Imperial War Museum, Birmingham and Glasgow museums to name a few.

This beautiful, vibrant English countryside painting,  depicting wild hedgerow plants is so full of life. It has the wonderful ability to transport you to a summer evening. It is in fabulous condition and the colours are so fresh. The whole thing is so contemporary it is hard to believe it pre dates 1945. 

In excellent condition, signed Fairlie H and verso reads Fairlie H and initials NFS ( not for sale)        Measurements include the frame.
