Hareng Saur for lunch?
A cold and full smoked herring, a traditional product of Boulogne Sur Mer.
Our UK equivalent was a 19th century Great Yarmouth speciality, a Bloater, ( a herring,salted and lightly smoked without gutting, giving a characteristic slightly gamey flavour)
Delightful little, French, oil on canvas, still life painting by Louis Hector Demailly (1879-1942) signed and dated 1922.
In excellent condition.
